Tax FAQ

Taxes are mailed to the current owner of record for the property. In order to change the name on a bill, you must change the ownership records by presenting the proper documents to the Lake County Clerk/Register of Deeds office. To see what documents are required (such as a deed, marriage certificate, death certificate, etc.) and any fees required, contact the Lake County Register of Deeds office at (231) 745-4641.

Address changes can be made by notifying the Township Treasurer either by sending the new address information with your tax bill or by calling (231) 388-4057 or mailing the new information between tax cycles to Newkirk Township Treasurer, P.O. Box 192, Luther, MI 49656.

You may contact the Township Treasurer to request a C/O Request Form that you can complete and mail to the Lake County Equalization Department.
