Township Board Meetings: 3rd Tuesday of the Month at 6:00 pm
Newkirk Township is a sparsely populated area that includes the Little Manistee River to the south, and the Pine River to the north, forests, and the occasional farm. Half of the township is scattered in parts of the Pere Marquette State Forest, which contains numerous miles to mountain bike, hike, canoe, snowmobile, and more! Popularity has grown for the numerous all-season sports which residents and visitors can enjoy all throughout Newkirk Township. The trails are maintained and groomed for the safety and pleasure of vacationers and the people who call this area home, some of whom are 4th and 5th generation families from the early pioneer era.
